Prince Edward Island Branch (CPF PEI)
French Student Excellence Award
For the seventh year in a row, Canadian Parents for French PEI is pleased to be sponsoring five students enrolled in French language programs on PEI to take part in an exciting week of activities in the Historica Encounters program in early 2009.
Historica Encounters is a one-week program of Canadian studies held at The Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre, in Ottawa. Supported by CPF PEI, five students will join the more than 130 high school students that take part in Historica Encounters each week. This opportunity is open to youth 14-17 years old.
The objective of Historica Encounters is to bring young Canadians of different backgrounds and regions together to give them an opportunity to learn about one another, to discover their country through one another, and to gain a better understanding of Canadian Institutions.
CPF PEI's five places in the program are on top of the Department of Education's customary annual allotment. Our involvement in the Historica Encounters program is important to us as we pursue our goals of promoting and creating French second language learning opportunities for young Islanders. Visit Encounters with Canada for more information about Historica Encounters.
