Prince Edward Island Branch (CPF PEI)

J. Elmer Hynes Award

J. Elmer HYNES was born in PEI where he grew up and worked as a Public Servant for the Provincial Government and later for the Federal Department of the Secretary of State, serving as Provincial Director in Charlottetown and Regional Director in Halifax and St. John's, Newfoundland, before moving to Ottawa and becoming Deputy Registrar of Canadian Citizenship.

He then moved onto a position as the National Executive Director for CPF from 1994-1998.  Elmer was a devoted husband (Elise Hockman)  and lived life humour and a sense of adventure.  He enjoyed immensely travel, curling, bicycling and heated debates on all topics. He passed away in May 2005.

Elmer was a proud Prince Edward Islander and supporter of CPF goals and mission.  His family carries on this devotion with an annual award recognizing volunteers in our organization.
