Concours d'art Oratoire

Le Concours d’art oratoire is a public-speaking event in French. In PEI there is a Provincial competition held in April annually. Sometimes competitions are held at the classroom, school or divisional level competitions before the Provincial Competition.

Participating students choose a subject in which they are particularly interested, naturally resulting in a carefully prepared and enthusiastic presentation. The speech may be designed to inform, to convince, or to amuse the audience. The presentation must be the student's original work and committed to memory.

Students are judged on voice, quality of language, choice of subject, gesture, and their response to a question from the jury.
