Mission, Vision & Values

Mission Statement

Canadian Parents for French (CPF) is the national network of volunteers which values French as an integral part of Canada and which is dedicated to the promotion and creation of French second language learning opportunities for young Canadians.

Vision Statement

A Canada where French and English speakers live together in mutual respect with the understanding and appreciation of each other's language and culture and where linguistic duality forms an integral part of society.

Values Statement

In Canadian Parents for French we value commitment to our mandate, the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge, and the taking of initiative and responsibility so that we achieve credibility and effectiveness.

CPF Background

CPF was founded in 1977 by a group of parents who wanted to ensure that children would have the opportunity to become bilingual in the Canadian school system.  CPF has evolved into a proactive national network with eleven Branch offices and some 170 Chapters in communities coast to coast.

Each CPF PEI Branch and Chapter is run by a volunteer Board of Directors. CPF National, Branches and Chapters are made up of mainly English speaking volunteers who have taken a membership in the organization to show their support in CPF.  These volunteers assist in the planning and implementation of programs and activities. It is only through the interest and support of volunteers that we are able to continue to offer programs to Island students. We thank you!

Welcome to CPF PEI!

Canadian Parents for French - Prince Edward Island, is a registered charitable organization.  It is one of eleven provincial Branches of our national organization, Canadian Parents for French. We also have local Chapters across the province that carry out activities that support French as a second language (FSL) learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
